The National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) is seeking a Security Manager to lead strategic, professional and cost-effective security and emergency management services at current and future NGV sites and provide subject matter expertise and advice to senior stakeholders.
ABOUT THE POSITION:
You will be responsible for supporting the Head of Facilities and Security to deliver strategic and professional security and emergency management services for the NGV that represent museum best practice and meet all compliance requirements. Other key responsibilities include:
- Leading, managing and motivating the Security team, both internal and external, including instilling a culture of high performance and continuous improvement. Overseeing the recruitment of external security personnel to ensure the best fit for the Gallery.
- Leading the preparation and management of strategic frameworks for security and emergency management, including strategic plans, policies, systems, technologies and procedures, and associated budgets. Preparing high-level reports and briefing papers for the Council of Trustees, sub Committees of the Council, Executive Management Team and other stakeholders as required.
- Providing expert security and emergency management advice to the NGV Executive team and senior staff. Championing a positive security and emergency management culture and embedding efficient and effective security and emergency management, awareness and practices.
- Working collaboratively with Melbourne Arts Precinct Transformation project partners, contractors and consultants to plan for the design and construction of The Fox: NGV Contemporary and the surrounding urban garden.
To be successful, you will have relevant tertiary qualification coupled with strong record of achievement in a strategic security role. You will have experience and knowledge of the current security and emergency management sector, systems and technologies, including Counter-Terrorism, Artificial Intelligence, Access Control, Intruder Detection Systems and CCTV systems.
You pay attention to words, expressions and body language, recognise and restrain inappropriate emotions during a situation or interaction, are committed to the public interest and operate in a manner that is consistent with the organisation’s code of conduct. You maximise effectiveness by selecting, developing and managing a high performing team, ensuring staff are actively deployed through effective workforce planning practices, build team commitment by demonstrating personal conviction, professionalism and motivate others to deliver against goals.
Prior experience in a compliance driven security environment, with experience in development of quality focussed policies, procedures and services, will be advantageous.
Diploma/Certificate IV Security Risk Management will be well regarded
