The Opportunity:
We are seeking an experienced Electronic Engineering Technician to join our dedicated team in Tullamarine, VIC. This full-time role offers an exciting opportunity to apply your expertise in communication systems, embedded software, and technical problem-solving in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Interpret schematics to identify failure points and assess components for repair or replacement.
- Collaborate with overseas and local engineering teams and technicians to diagnose and resolve complex issues in telecommunication devices.
- Modify, develop, and interpret embedded software for testing communication systems.
- Calibrate and operate optical fibre simulation boxes and OTDR testing equipment to diagnose and resolve system failures, providing a detailed report with recommended repairs based on findings.
- Effectively utilise network analysers, spectrum analysers, signal generators, and other test equipment to conduct accurate testing of telecommunications equipment.
- Efficiently perform board-level repairs on various types of components to ensure equipment functionality and reliability.
- Identify when splicing is necessary and apply expertise in performing splicing.
- Interpret PCB layouts to identify components and their layout, and assess potential failure points in the absence of schematics.
- Apply knowledge in identifying various optical and RF connectors to support test environment setup.
- Assist in configuring communication and electronic systems with appropriate control and protection measures.
- Establish and monitor performance and safety standards for system operation and maintenance.
- Test and calibrate communication systems using wired, optical fibre, and wireless devices, with a strong knowledge of RF and optical testing.
- Provide technical support to team members and end users, both onsite and remotely, as required.
- Apply a sound understanding of telecommunication terminology (4G, 5G, NFC, RFID, etc) to support troubleshooting, system configuration, and effective communication with team members and stakeholders.
The successful candidates will hold the following qualifications, skills and experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years relevant experience in electronics engineering repairs, with a focus on communication systems.
- Track record of recommending changes to electronic components, circuits, and systems as relevant to repairs.
- Proven ability to recommend modifications to electronic components, circuits, and systems to enhance repair outcomes.
- Extensive background in embedded software development and signal processing algorithms.
- Proficiency in CAD software and other engineering tools.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong root cause and trend analysis reporting skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Suite of Products - Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Must be detail-oriented and a team player.
- Must be flexible in work duties and schedule.
