The Researcher Development Academy (RDA), provides researcher education and professional development activities to support researchers at all stages of their careers. Through workshops, programs, and events, the RDA focuses on developing researchers to be successful regardless of their career path. The RDA also provides end-to-end centralised candidature management for Deakin’s 2200-strong Graduate Researcher cohort, and oversees Deakin’s International Graduate Research Programs.

As Senior Coordinator, you will:

  • Lead the planning, delivery and development of researcher engagement programs, ensuring they are fit for purpose and deliver the best results for researchers, supervisors, graduate researchers, industry partners and the broader university.
  • Identify and implement communication strategies to promote and raise awareness of RDA’s programs, ensuring that key messages are communicated effectively to diverse internal and external stakeholders through a variety of channels.
  • Prepare communication materials and artefacts to support internal and external engagement activities, tailoring messaging and using appropriate influencing techniques and communication channels to build understanding and support for researcher training and development programs.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including current graduate researchers, supervisors and Graduate Research Coordinators, and external partners, ensuring the continued success of all programs.
  • Plan and oversee all aspects of the end-to-end program to deliver sustainable outcomes, including conditions and contract negotiation, meeting milestones and deadlines, maintaining satisfactory progress, providing effective governance and administration, ensuring adherence to reporting requirements, and maintaining clear and transparent communication with stakeholders throughout the program lifecycle.

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • Postgraduate qualifications or progress towards postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience; or
  • Extensive experience and management expertise; or
  • An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing stakeholder engagement strategies and communication plans.
  • Experience in program and/or project management, including managing timelines, budgets, and resources in large complex organisations.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of digital communication tools, software and platforms.
  • Knowledge of the Australian Higher Education sector and an understanding of academic, research and administrative practices in a university.
