About the Opportunity

Ord Valley Aboriginal Health Service (OVAHS) is seeking a passionate and skilled Registered Nurse – Midwife to join our dedicated team. This role provides a unique opportunity to deliver comprehensive midwifery care that supports the health and well-being of Aboriginal women and their families in the East Kimberley region.

Reporting to the Clinical Services Manager and working within the Maternal and Child Health Team, your primary responsibility will be providing quality and client focused Primary Health Care services to Antenatal and Postnatal clients and families in the context of their cultural identity and social circumstances.

You will also work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including Registered Nurses, Allied Health professionals, and community support services, to improve health outcomes for Aboriginal women and children.

With a strong focus on prevention, education, and holistic care, this role offers the chance to make a real difference in the community while enjoying a collaborative and supportive work environment.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will have:
Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse and endorsed Midwife.
At least 2 years of post-graduate midwifery experience in a clinical setting.
A deep understanding of Aboriginal health issues and the ability to deliver culturally responsive care.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust with patients, families, and community members.
The ability to work independently and within a team, supporting other health professionals and liaising with external agencies.
A commitment to ongoing education and continuous quality improvement, ensuring best practices in maternal and child health care.

About the Benefits

This is a rewarding role that will offer you a high degree of autonomy in Midwifery Care based on the Australian College of Midwives National Midwifery Guidelines for Consultation and Referral together with the In Principle Agreement with Kununurra District Hospital.

Your dedication will be rewarded with an attractive remuneration package circa $145,000 (commensurate with qualifications and experience) plus a range of benefits to significantly increase the value of your overall remuneration package including:

Base Wage: Nurses Award 2020 Grade 4 ($116,093_ $131,000) per annum pro rata + Super

5 weeks annual leave per year

Additional paid leave during the end of year closure period, inclusive of public holidays, as per leave policy

Relocation assistance

$1,800 Annual flight allowance

Accommodation allowance or subsidised accommodation, based on availability

Sociable hours (Mon-Fri office hours)
