We seek motivated and passionate mental health nurses for a non-procedural Day Hospital supporting a multidisciplinary specialist practice, providing integrated care to people suffering from an eating disorder, their families and carers supporting them. The treatment is a holistic, multidisciplinary service delivery model underpinned by compelling clinical evidence from within Australia and overseas. Qualifying clients will be offered intensive day program sessions, outpatient programs and home-based support as an alternative to multiday in-hospital treatment.
The Job Vacancy:
A small team of nursing staff provide medical nursing and mental health support to clients and their families in individual and group settings during their eating disorder treatment. Groups contain no more than 12 clients and are supported by a nurse and allied-health professionals. The nursing team supports multidisciplinary clinicians and provides therapeutic support to clients and their families. Programs include our adolescent (14-17 years) and adult (18 years +) intensive treatment programs which run five-days per week (Monday to Friday).
Positions are available casual and permanent part time. Most working hours are Monday to Friday, 8 am-8pm, with some Saturday mornings as per rostering requirements. All shifts are based in Subiaco. Competitive renumeration will be based on qualifications and experience.
Key Responsibilities :
· Provide nursing care and support to clients (adolescents and adults), including admissions, physical nursing assessments, assistance in the GP clinic, and nursing support as required.
· Provide co-facilitation of group programs and participate in meal support and mental health support as required.
· Assessment and processing of patient referrals.
Required Attributes:
Essential:
1. Current registration with Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) as an Enrolled Nurse or Registered Nurse.
2. Current Working with Children Check (WWC).
3. Minimum of two-years’ experience in the community and/or inpatient mental health setting.
4. Ability to provide meal support to clients including eating meals and snacks with the clients on each shift (food provided).
5. Demonstrated experience with risk assessments, trauma-informed care and recovery-based practices.
6. High-level verbal and written communication skills including conflict resolution, de-escalation techniques, ability to work in a team, strong computer literacy.
7. Understanding of the implementation of evidenced-based practice and research methodologies.
8. Competent in nursing skills including ECGs, basic life support and wound management.
Preferable:
1. Experience with triage processes and case management of clients living with mental health concerns.
2. Experience delivering group therapy for a variety of mental health modalities (highly regarded).
3. Post-graduate studies in mental health.
4. Experience working with clients and their families living with eating disorders, including meal support and medical monitoring.
5. Leadership, training and mentoring of junior nursing staff.
6. Experience working with adolescents (highly regarded).
