We have an immediate opportunity for an innovative and creative Junior Wayfinding Designer, with immaculate technical skills, to join our well regarded Experiential Design team. We are looking for someone who likes to be challenged to exceed their best and who is determinedly creative.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
As the Junior Wayfinding Designer, you will be responsible for creating environmental design and branded physical experiences. You will primarily be working on signage and wayfinding projects and permanent feature installations from concept design to design development and documentation through to construction under the supervision of senior environmental graphic designers. You must love to generate new ideas, be passionate about design, eager to learn and supportive of a diverse working environment.
Your day to day may include the following responsibilities;
Support senior designers with wayfinding and environmental graphics project delivery from concept and documentation to production supervision and defects inspection
Contribute to the ideation process, creative brainstorming, concept development and preparation of proposals
Develop pictogram designs, mapping, and themed environments
Assist in liaising with signage contractors and overseeing signage production & installation
Assist the senior designers with creating concept drawings, 3D designs and realistic renders for public arts and feature installations
Create accurate and detailed 2D and 3D drawings in all phases of design under the direction of a senior designer
Assist with digital fabrication for producing prototypes–3D printing and laser cutting
Suggest improvements to design and performance to product engineers
Conduct research on product technologies, lighting, and structures to deliver the creative concept and design
Identify design initiatives outside of project scopes such as bespoke elements, furniture, and product design
EXPERIENCE + SKILLS
Tertiary qualifications in product design, industrial design, or graphic design
Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite
Advanced knowledge of CAD programs such as Fusion 360, SolidWorks, Rhino
Advanced knowledge of rendering programs such as KeyShot, TwinMotion or Blender
Understanding of environmental graphics and product design
Technical drawing skills are highly desirable
Experience in a similar role within the architecture and design industry is ideal but not necessary
An understanding of architectural design process and environmental storytelling is ideal but not necessary
An understanding of light design is highly desirable
A strong eye for design and detail
Strong communication skills, to work with the production team to ensure accurate delivery of design
Comprehensive understanding of production techniques and possibilities (print / industrial)
Ability to work collaboratively with the creative and production teams
Above all, a passion for spatial design and the built environment
