Carroll Engineering Services is a respected family-owned manufacturer of recycling plant and equipment made in our Stapylton facility. With a solid pipeline of work, the company now wishes to appoint a skilled qualified fitter/welder to join the workshop team. The role is full-time and ongoing.
Location – Stapylton QLD
Responsibilities:
This is a workshop-based position carrying out repairs and maintenance on fixed plant and mobile equipment. Responsibilities may include fitting, assembling, grinding, and shaping metal parts and subassemblies to fabricate production machines and other equipment.
Tasks:
· studying drawings and specifications to determine suitable material, method and sequence of operations, and machine settings
· fitting fabricated metal parts into products and assembling metal parts and subassemblies to produce machines and equipment
· checking fabricated and assembled metal parts for accuracy, clearance and fit using precision measuring instruments
· setting guides, stops and other controls on machining tools, setting up prescribed cutting and shaping tools and dies in machines and presses
· forming metal stock and castings to fine tolerances using machining tools to press, cut, grind, plane, bore and drill metal
· cutting, threading, bending and installing hydraulic and pneumatic pipes and lines
· diagnosing faults and performing operational maintenance of machines, and overhauling and repairing mechanical parts and fluid power equipment
· may erect machines and equipment on-site
Qualifications and experience:
You have a passion for the metalworking industry and are up to date on the latest industrial and safety techniques. Your work history shows you demonstrate an unwavering commitment to welding of the highest quality, whilst working within a cohesive and hardworking team environment.
Must possess at least equivalent to an AQF Certificate III (including a minimum of two years of on-the-job training), or AQF Certificate IV and 2 years’ experience OR 3 years or more highly relevant experience.
Have great attention to detail, high quality of work, plentiful proven experience in the fitter field.
Able to skillfully read and interpret blueprints. Always work with a high level of safety awareness
Ability to prioritize, set goals, and have the determination to achieve them.
Have unrestricted rights to work full-time in Australia
A competitive annual salary starting in the range of $80,000 - $90,000 (to be negotiated depending on qualifications and experience) plus superannuation, training opportunities, and a congenial work environment is on offer.
