About the Role:
We are seeking a Clinical Head of Social Work to lead our social work team and oversee the strategic direction of social work services at Veteran Pathways. This leadership position will drive clinical excellence, ensure program effectiveness, and establish evidence-based practice standards that directly benefit our veteran community.
You will serve as the principal clinical authority for social work services and collaborate with senior management to ensure that our social work programs align with organisational goals, driving positive outcomes for veterans.
Key Responsibilities include:
Lead the development and implementation of best practice frameworks for social work programs.
Design, evaluate, and innovate social work programs to enhance veterans' outcomes and service delivery models.
Identify service gaps and ensure high standards are met, while driving continuous improvement.
Report on program outcomes and oversee quality assurance for social work services.
Develop career pathways, implement targeted training programs, and provide mentoring and clinical supervision to foster a culture of continuous learning, while supporting the growth of emerging leaders and encouraging team collaboration.
Provide leadership through guidance, supervision, and performance management.
Review and develop clinical governance frameworks, policies, and protocols.
Represent Veteran Pathways and the social work team at internal and external forums and meetings, advocating for veterans' rights and needs.
Conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments, treatment planning, and therapeutic interventions for complex cases.
Ensure compliance with legislative and professional standards in clinical practice.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated care for veterans.
Lead quality improvement initiatives and monitor program effectiveness through data analysis and feedback.
Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and contribute to service improvement.
Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including allied health professionals and external organisations.
About You:
You are a compassionate, collaborative, and dynamic leader who can inspire excellence within a social work team.
You will have:
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Work, with mandatory AASW registration
Australian citizenship.
Mental health accreditation is preferred but not essential.
Minimum of 5 years' experience in general or health social work, with a strong background in clinical supervision, leadership, and developing clinical procedures and training programs.
Extensive experience in social work leadership, ideally within veteran health or a similar field, with advanced clinical skills in psychosocial assessment, case management, and evidence-based interventions.
In-depth knowledge of veteran-specific health and social care needs, alongside a commitment to maintaining ethical practices and delivering high-quality services.
Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving abilities, and a proven track record in program development and innovation.
Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
A dedication to fostering a culture of continuous learning, professional development, and high team performance.
A demonstrated ability to lead a high-performing team, manage performance, and ensure the effective delivery of services.
