ABOUT THE COMPANY

The Sydney Private Hospital (TSPH) is a 90-bed surgical and rehabilitation hospital located in Ashfield. TSPH is surrounded by beautiful gardens and heritage buildings. The hospital is located close to public transport and provides free on-site parking for staff.

TSPH provides a broad range of surgical services through its eight operating theatres including Orthopaedics, ophthalmology, and general surgery. In addition, TSPH has an extensive in-patient and out-patient rehabilitation unit with multiple gyms and a hydrotherapy unit.

TSPH provides a range of specialised rehabilitation programs including Heart Wellness and Pulmonary reconditioning. These are in addition to more traditional programs such as reconditioning, neurological, and Orthopaedics rehabilitation programs.

DUTIES

General duties include (but are not limited to):

• Timely and accurate billing of patient accounts and submission to relevant entities
• Resolution of billing discrepancies and / or rejections
• Monitoring and follow-up of outstanding debts
• Maintenance of billing module (e.g. health fund & third-party contracts, MBS items, prostheses etc.)
• Oversee daily receipting of payments from health funds and other sources.
• Preparation of self-insured quotes
• Handling enquiries related to billings and accounts receivable
• Preparation of reports on KPI’s and billing statistics
• Completion of internal and external audits as required
  
• ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
• Good understanding of debt management processes
• Demonstrated time-management skills and ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
• Highly professional phone manner and excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to problem solve and initiate action.
• Well-developed computer skills including accurate data entry skills with good attention to detail
• Proven computer skills across a variety of applications
  
  DESIRABLE CRITERIA
• Previous hospital billing experience ideal but not necessary
• Good understanding of health fund and other third-party contracts preferred
• Experienced in ERP and billing systems
• Experience with webPAS patient management system (or similar)
