Due to growth and increased demand, we are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Purchasing Officer to join our team. This role is vital in ensuring that all goods purchased meet high standards of quality, are competitively priced, and arrive on-site in a timely manner. The successful candidate will work closely with Site Supervisors, suppliers, and sub-contractors to manage procurement, stock control, and invoice verification while maintaining accurate pricing sheets and job costings.

Key Responsibilities:

• Order materials for job sites and warehouse stock.
• Receive and verify deliveries to the warehouse.
• Source the best price and quality from suppliers.
• Maintain up-to-date pricing sheets to ensure correct profit margins.
• Process order requests from Site Supervisors.
• Obtain subcontractor quotes and prepare Purchase Orders.
• Verify and authorise purchase invoices, addressing discrepancies as needed.
• Cross-check job costing spreadsheets and flag major discrepancies before purchases.
• Ensure all deliveries match packing slips and order records, taking corrective action when necessary.
• Properly store deliveries in the warehouse.

Key Requirements:

• Forklift licence (essential/willing to obtain).
• Competence in using computers for ordering, record-keeping, and correspondence.
• Strong ability to liaise with suppliers and contractors.
• Knowledge of building terminology and measurements.
• Excellent phone manner and communication skills.
• Strong grammar and spelling for professional correspondence.
• Ability to work in both warehouse and office environments (office is located above the warehouse).

Highly Regarded:

• An accounting background, particularly experience in managing cost control and financial aspects of procurement, is highly desirable.
