The Role:
As the Bushfire Mitigation Officer, reporting directly to the Team Leader Environment and Biodiversity; you would work alongside a dedicated team to develop and implement strategies that safeguard our community and natural assets, building a safer, more resilient future for Clarence.
Key Areas of Responsibility include:
- Lead and implement the Clarence Bushfire Mitigation Framework, including the Bushfire Policy, Bushfire Mitigation Strategy and reserve bushfire mitigation plans.
- Work with internal teams and stakeholders to identify and reduce bushfire risks on council-managed land.
- Develop and manage bushfire mitigation actions, including burn plans and hazard management area maintenance.
- Build relationships with key partners like the Tasmanian Fire Service, Parks and Wildlife, and neighbouring councils.
- Monitor and report on bushfire mitigation actions and funding opportunities.
- Help engage the community and share information on bushfire safety and planning.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A solid understanding of bushfire risk management and related legislation.
- Experience in developing and implementing bushfire mitigation strategies.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with a range of stakeholders.
- Ability to adapt, problem-solve, and work well within a team.
- Tech-savvy and comfortable using digital tools for reporting and analysis.
Also required are qualifications in natural resource management, fire management, environmental science, or related fields, or demonstrated equivalent experience.
