Your role
As an Aircraft Armament Technician in the Air Force, you’ll maintain and handle aircraft weapon systems on advanced aircraft such as the F-35A Lightning II, E/A-18 Growler and F/A-18F Super Hornet. You’ll work on a variety of their armament components, which are a combination of electronic, electrical, or mechanical. You’ll also handle their ejection seat systems and prepare and load various air-launched munitions.
Your duties may include:
- Aircraft launch and recovery duties.
- Maintenance and testing of computer and weapon armament systems.
- Fault diagnostics.
- Inspection, removal, and installation of aircraft components.
- Working with explosives.
- Preparing and loading missiles, bombs and torpedoes onto aircraft.
- Preparing and using aircraft support equipment.

Salary
Upon completion of initial military and employment training, you will enjoy a salary package starting from $83,610.
Location
Following training, you may be posted to one of the major Air Force bases around Australia, such as RAAF Base Amberley, Williamtown, or Edinburgh.

For this role, you must be at least 17 at the time of enlistment, an Australian Citizen, and have passed Year 10 English, Maths and Science (with a Physics component).
