We are seeking a visionary Program Director with a strong architectural background to oversee a portfolio of strategic adaptive re-use and built environment projects that will shape the future of our campuses.

This role presents a fantastic opportunity to lead ground-breaking projects that integrate physical and digital spaces, enhancing the customer experience through innovative design. The role is focused on ensuring architectural integrity and delivering impactful solutions tailored to needs the needs of educators, staff and students.

As the Program Director, you will report to the Senior Director, Portfolio Delivery, and lead the delivery of a portfolio of strategic built-environment projects to achieve impactful outcomes for Deakin. The position is responsible for the establishment and leadership of the program team, managing key delivery and reporting elements of the projects and the allocation and optimisation of resources to deliver multiple individual projects within tight timeframes and budget constraints.

The Program Director will negotiate and inspire change across a broad spectrum of issues resulting in large scale impact and long-term implications for the university. The ability to facilitate and successfully collaborate with stakeholders to adopt change where there are conflicting interests and opinions is critical.

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • Proven Strategic Leadership: Demonstrated success in leading strategic architectural or campus planning strategic initiatives that drive organizational growth.
  • Innovative Design Thinking: Strong understanding of contemporary discipline concepts and strategies, with the ability to adapt and implement them for organizational benefit.
  • Strategic Partnerships: Proven ability to develop long-term, mutually beneficial relationships with construction and architectural partners.
  • Exceptional Management Skills: Demonstrated resource and people management skills, including the ability to build high-performance teams and lead change effectively.
  • High-Level Communication: Excellent negotiation, influencing, advocacy, and facilitation skills, along with superior written and oral communication abilities.
  • Adaptability: Ability to manage ambiguity and deliver multiple projects within tight timeframes
