Our client is the largest integrated construction materials company in Australia, producing and selling a broad range of construction materials and recycled materials. Employing circa 7,500 employees and contractors, their extensive footprint includes circa 360 operating sites nationally.

Today they on an ambitious improvement journey - and strategy is at the heart of it. We are working with them to identify a commercially savvy and execution-focused Strategy Manager to help shape the future of Australia’s leading construction materials business.

This is a rare opportunity to step out of pure consulting or corporate strategy and into a role where you’ll see your work directly influence growth, M&A decisions, and real-world outcomes. You’ll work with the Head of Strategy to partner closely with senior leaders, lead high-impact strategic projects, and be part of a tight-knit team that’s driving results, not just writing the plan.

So, if you are a strategic thinker who thrives on turning insight into action, then this role may well be for you. Our market leading and iconic customer is keen to appoint a commercial, hands-on Strategy Manager to help deliver real growth outcomes through M&A, network optimisation, and strategic reviews.
This is not just a “strategy-on-paper” role. You’ll work shoulder-to-shoulder with senior leaders, execute strategy, lead transactions, and see your work come to life in the business.

So, What’s in it for you?

  • An Executive Remuneration – circa $280k
  • End-to-end impact: From initial strategy through to deal completion.
  • Tangible results: Lead real deals—like Boral’s recent acquisition in Victoria.
  • Senior access: Regular interaction with the CEO, CFO, and Executive GMs.
  • Execution > theory: Be the engine that turns strategy into outcomes.
  • Career gateway: Boral sees this role as a pipeline to future senior leadership roles.
  • Culture - This is a remarkably tight-knit, hands-on, small team working on high-impact, high-visibility projects. You’ll be empowered, supported, and given room to run. Our clients performance improvement is well under way having achieved multiple key milestones, so this is a unique opportunity to make your mark on an iconic organisation who has the appetite for growth - beit organic or acquisition as you identify solutions/opportunities that deliver to the business needs.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading strategy projects including network optimisation, growth initiatives, and market expansion.
  • Identifying and evaluating M&A opportunities.
  • Running end-to-end deal processes, including financial modelling, due diligence, negotiations, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Preparing Board and Executive-level briefs and presentations.
  • Maintaining industry and competitor intelligence.
  • Coaching and guiding an analyst to support execution. (a direct report)

What you will bring to this role

  • ~10+ years in strategy, corporate development or M&A – either from industry or top-tier consulting.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • A background in industrials, infrastructure, or capital-intensive sectors is ideal.
  • Strong financial acumen – able to build robust models and assess commercial viability.
  • Ability to distil complex insights into clear, actionable strategy.
  • A natural influencer – able to build trust with operators and execs alike.
  • Both proactive and curious, and excited by making strategy real.
  • Proven ability to bring structure and commercial thinking to ambiguous problems.
  • Demonstrated success leading with influence, not authority, to get stakeholders on board.
  • Proven prioritisation skill and demonstrated ability keeping multiple projects moving forward at pace.
  • A willingness and desire to take ownership of deliverables and push through to execution.
  • Excellent communicate skills whilst driving alignment.

If you’re ready to move beyond the theory and into the engine room of strategy execution, where your work leads to real acquisitions, growth, and business change, then we want to hear from you.
