About the Role

As a Marine Electrician, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all electrical systems on board and ashore. This includes systems in the engine room, bridge, material handling plant, and general equipment, all maintained in accordance with AS/NZ3000 standards. You will also play a key role in supporting dry-docking operations, maintaining electrical safety standards, and assisting with deck operations as required.

This is a FIFO role based on a notional 3-weeks-on, 3-weeks-off roster and requires flexibility to meet client needs.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

Maintain and operate all electrical machinery and equipment aboard the vessel and in shore-based facilities.

Plan and execute electrical system repairs and preventative maintenance.

Order and manage electrical spare parts, safety equipment, and inventory to ensure continuous operations.

Support the preparation of dry-docking specifications and oversee electrical repairs during dockings.

Interpret complex electrical diagrams and troubleshoot system faults.

Record and report maintenance activities in accordance with company procedures.

Assist in deck operations such as mooring alongside other vessels or wharfs.

Uphold all trade-related regulatory and safety compliance requirements.

Work in and around engine rooms, control rooms, and conveyor systems.

Perform tasks in confined spaces, at heights, and around moving machinery.

Respond to emergencies and ensure electrical safety across all systems.

Use precision tools, interpret data from control panels, and identify electrical faults.

Climb ladders, steep stairways, and work on masts as required.

Submit detailed reports on faults and repairs.

Required

QLD Electrical Worker's License – (or mutual recognition)

Valid driver’s license

Strong understanding of AS/NZ3000 standards.

Ability to work independently and safely in high-risk environments.

Sound problem-solving skills and experience interpreting electrical diagrams.

Flexibility to work shift work, including solo tasks and emergency response readiness.

Strong organisational skills for stock management and maintenance record-keeping.

Remuneration & Benefits

The employment benefits package is salary plus super, and a notional equal time roster that requires flexibility to meet client requirements. This position will initially be based on a casual contract with a view to permanency for the right candidate.
