Alice Springs Hospital (ASH) is Central Australia’s primary acute care service with a catchment area of approximately 50,000 residents across Alice Springs and up to 50 remote community locations. The facility has 209 beds with a renal dialysis centre that caters to more than 400 patients.

A major component of ASH’s acute services is the Diabetes service within medical services. Central Australia has one of the highest prevalence of chronic Diabetes and Renal disease when compared with national averages particularly in the First Nations patient cohort and young people.

As the Nurse Education Coordinator – Diabetes you will play a pivotal role in delivering both autonomous and collaborative safe patient-centred care. Utilising extensive knowledge of contemporary diabetes management, this position provides advice, education, and support to patients and staff across Renal, Maternal and Child Health, Paediatrics, and General Medical/Surgical areas.

You will develop, implement, and evaluate comprehensive diabetes management plans to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

In addition to leading educational initiatives and supporting staff development, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance care delivery across various clinical areas. The role is crucial in improving the management of Diabetes, reducing complications, and enhancing overall patient outcomes across the Central Australia region.
