Social Workers provide psychosocial assessment and care to patients of Bass Coast Health (BCH) and their families. The BCH Social Work team is an Allied Health team at BCH and Social Work sits within the Allied Health Directorate.
The Senior Social Worker is a key leadership role working as a clinical leader for a team of hospital and community Social Workers, in addition to providing direct clinical and secondary consultation for Social Work services within BCH. The role will provide high quality clinical and professional leadership and responsibility for clinical social work service delivery including providing supervision for Social Workers. The Senior Social Worker will undertake other tasks and responsibilities within the scope of practice as requested.

Mandatory:

• Bachelor of Social Work from an accredited course/university
• Eligible for membership with Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
• Extensive experience in Social Work, including clinical expertise and leadership skills
• Experienced and highly skilled Social Work clinician with consolidated psychosocial assessment, formulation and clinical reasoning abilities
• A current, full driver’s licence for the State of Victoria and comply with any restrictions on their licence if applicable, e.g., wearing glasses
• Employees are required to undertake a National Criminal Record Check, NDIS Worker Screening Check, and a Working with Children Check prior to commencing employment. Noting, employees are required to maintain these checks throughout their employment

Desirable:

• A minimum of seven years relevant social work experience in a healthcare setting
• Specialist knowledge in the areas of aged care, VCAT, NDIS, family violence and elder abuse
• Demonstrated training and experience in professional supervision
• Ability to monitor, maintain and review Social Work referral systems
• Understanding of the quality improvement model
• Knowledge and understanding of ambulatory services
• Excellent ability to draw on knowledge of relevant theoretical constructs, wider organisational strategy, structure and goals to deliver high quality evidence-based care
• Ability to provide clinical leadership and responsibility for clinical social work service delivery in allocated area
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
• Ability to work flexibly in a fast-paced clinical environment, managing competing demands according to departmental and organisational requirements
• Commitment to building professional skills and capacity
• Proven ability to teach, mentor and develop staff, at all levels, as well as members of the wider community
• Critically reflective stance with capacity for creating practice theory and acting as an appropriate change agent
• Capacity for effective negotiation, conflict resolution and wide consultation at all levels, to maintain and foster key interpersonal relationships
