Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented professional to assess applications for the certification of laboratories and physical containment facilities. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring compliance with gene technology legislation and certification guidelines, while working within strict timeframes. You will be required to liaise with applicants, prepare important documentation, and support the smooth and efficient running of the team. Key Duties:
- Assess applications for the certification of laboratories and other physical containment facilities against guidelines issued by the Gene Technology Regulator, within required timeframes.
- Understand and interpret gene technology legislation and certification guidelines to ensure compliance and accurate assessments.
- Liaise and negotiate confidently and professionally with applicants to clarify information and resolve any queries.
- Prepare various documents including minutes, certification instruments, and general correspondence, ensuring accuracy and clarity.
- Perform routine administrative tasks to ensure the smooth running and efficiency of the Section.
- Maintain accurate records of applications and certification outcomes, ensuring that all documentation is up to date and easily accessible.
- Assist with the development and implementation of new processes and guidelines to improve the certification and assessment procedures.
- Stay updated on changes to gene technology legislation and regulatory practices to ensure ongoing compliance.
To Be Successful, You Will Have:
- A basic understanding and experience of working in scientific facilities or similar regulated environments.
- A demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
- Proven ability to work effectively within a team, contributing to a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical information to various stakeholders.
- Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage competing demands.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving, with the ability to identify and resolve issues as they arise.
- A high level of professionalism, with the ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgement.
