Our Therapy and Behaviour Support team partners with families to provide tailored therapy supports, helping children and young people achieve their goals and thrive in their communities. We are a dedicated group of allied health and behaviour support professionals driven by making a lasting impact.
About the Role
We are seeking expressions of interest from Occupational Therapists that are interested in joining our Western Sydney team supporting families around the Blacktown LGA in a part-time capacity.
This part-time opportunity is ideal for individuals seeking afternoon working hours, with options including:
2:00pm – 6:00pm (across 5 days, 20 hours per week)
1:00pm – 6:00pm (across 4 or 5 days, 20-25 hours per week)
You will provide person and family-centred therapy services to children and young people with disabilities or developmental delays. This includes a mix of in-person supports across Lifestart sites, homes, schools, and the community, as well as online therapy Australia-wide.
Responsibilities include:
Work alongside children, young people and their families to set goals, develop strategies and support their implementation
Empower our clients and families to develop independence in areas such as self-care and everyday routines, sensory processing, play and motor skills, emotional regulation and inclusion in chosen activities and settings
Opportunity to develop specialist areas of interest such as prescription of Assistive Technology and minor Home Modifications, Sensory Processing and Emotional Regulation
Work with a varied caseload alongside a team of experienced allied health professionals and behaviour support practitioners.
Provide support to families through a keyworker model of practice and parent coaching
Opportunity to provide support through telehealth, engaging with families online for assessment and intervention.
Opportunity to support families though group programs such as Toilet Training workshops, Transition to School and High School and other interest-based groups
About You - Skills and Experience
Qualification in Occupational Therapy with current AHPRA registration
Minimum 1-4 years’ experience
Professional experience, or demonstrated commitment to working with children and young people
Experience and/or interest in using person and family centred, strength-based approaches
Highly organised, and able to work with technology in a changing environment
Understanding of inclusion, cultural sensitivities and the needs of diverse communities
Align with Lifestart’s values and believe you would be a great fit
Valid Working with Children’s Check (WWCC) Clearance (or willingness to obtain)
Valid NDIS Worker Screening Check (NDISWC) Clearance (or willingness to obtain)
Fully vaccinated for the Covid-19 Virus (3 doses) or accepted medical exemption certificate
Current driver’s licence and use of own car
