About the role:
The Wellness and Lifestyle Programs Officer coordinates, manages and promotes the Barunga Village programs and will create different spaces and projects to enhance the innovative activities delivered to House Members.
Some of the programs are, but not limited to:
- Intergenerational Program - This is an initiative of supporting the communities in which we live, which in turn, relates to our value ‘support connections’. Plans include kindergarten visits from Port Broughton Kindergarten, Port Broughton Playgroup and the new Intergenerational Playgroup, a new playgroup established and run by Barunga Village.
- Men’s Activities Program - This program supports House Members who identify as men to increase their participation in activities and hobbies of interest to them, with the aim of increasing enjoyment and social connection.
- Gardening Program -This program supports House Members to engage in gardening activities.
- Virtual Reality Program - This program supports House Members to undertake virtual reality experiences, with the aim of entertainment, enjoyment and increasing social connections.
Responsibilities of the role:
Coordination of the Programs
- Planning, coordination and conducting all program activities
Communication and promotion of the Programs
- Ongoing communication with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth and efficient program operations.
- Actively promoting the programs to gain participant engagement and support, including communication with referral sources.
- Provide regular reports on programs’ status to the Wellness, Lifestyle and Volunteers Manager.
Volunteer Coordination
- Assist with the recruitment and training of Program volunteers.
- Supervise and support program volunteers.
- Liaise and collaborate with Barunga Village Volunteer Gardening Group.
Quality Management and Improvement
- Consultation with consumers and eternal stakeholders to co-design and continuously improve the program.
- Implement improvements with support of Barunga Village management.
- Measuring and reporting on agreed program key performance indicators.
- Foster and promote a culture of continuous improvement, and lead the identification, development and implementation of improvement initiatives.
- Support the Wellness and Lifestyle program to meet regulatory and compliance standards.
- Monitor and manage operations performance data including client feedback, incident data and staff feedback to ensure that service delivery meets relevant quality standards and legislative requirements.
- Actively support management of quality and continuous improvement across Barunga Village.
Risk Management
- Identifying, monitoring and managing risk in the Programs, advising and making recommendations to the Wellness, Lifestyle and Volunteers Manager and Risk Manager on emerging or escalating risks.
Any other duties commensurate with the employee’s skills and experience as directed by the Wellness, Lifestyle and Volunteers Manager.
About you:
- Certificate III in Aged Care or experience in working with older people.
- Desirable Certificate III in Childcare or experience in working with or caring for young children.
- Experience working in or taking part in early childhood initiatives or in the provision of activities/programs to groups and individuals will be a plus.
- Senior First Aid Certificate desirable.
- Hold or be studying towards a Diversional Therapy qualification will be valuable but not required.
