The Role: We are working with a industry leading client in the health insurance sector, looking for talented and motivated In-House Legal Counsels to join their team in Sydney (Parramatta). Working with Clario, this 6-month secondment opportunity has high potential to become a permanent role.

The successful candidate will provide expert legal advice and support internal stakeholder across general commercial law, regulatory matters (including liaising with APRA), privacy, employment, marketing, technology (including AI) within the context of the health insurance industry. You will work closely with the business to ensure compliance with laws and regulations, mitigate risks, and contribute to the overall success of our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver day-to-day legal services across business units and support major projects such as strategic growth opportunities and regulatory change projects.

Provide advice on legal matters and changes in law and regulatory requirements impacting the business.

Draft, review, and assist with the negotiation of commercial agreements.

Advise on member complaints and assist with issues raised by regulators.

Manage projects and other related tasks to help the organisation meet its legal and regulatory obligations (including upcoming AI and technology enablement projects).

About You:

A qualified lawyer with a minimum of 5-8 years of post-qualification experience (PQE).

Previous experience in the health insurance industry is highly regarded.

Strong knowledge of Australian law and regulations - particularly competition and consumer law, APRA regulations, Privacy Act, Intellectual Property, Work Health & Safety and Corporations law.

Strong drafting, research and negotiation skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team while maintaining excellent relationships with internal stakeholders.
