Within the Mental Health Division, we pride ourselves on providing high quality mental health services to people living in the northern regions of Melbourne, and work in a collaborative way with consumers and carers based on recovery principles. We aim to provide strong clinical leadership to support all staff in the provision of professional treatment and care by our integrated community teams, inpatient, and residential services.

About the Role:

Exciting opportunity exists for a HOPE Mental Health Senoir Clinican to join the HOPE Team within Northern Health's Mental Health Division, located in Mill Park.

The HOPE program is a multidisciplinary team made up of clinicians, psychosocial support workers and Peer/Carer Lived experience workforce alongside the HOPE Consultant Psychiatrist.

The HOPE team is a supportive and dynamic team of staff that are truly passionate and motivated in supporting consumers and their families/carers.

We provide a comprehensive range of specialist mental health services to people who reside in the local government areas of Merri Bek and Hume.

Contribute your clinical expertise to the HOPE program, particularly in the areas of mental health assessment and care coordination following a suicide attempt or expressions of suicidal ideation.

Engage in clinical service development activities within the team and actively support quality initiatives and research efforts.

You will collaborate with both clinical and non-clinical colleagues, as well as those with lived experiences, to promote a team-based approach to care.

Also, you will participate in collecting data in a timely manner for quality improvement and evaluation purposes.

This position is ongoing full time position working 80 hours per fortnight. Hours of work will be on a rotating roster Monday to Fridays and will include business hours and after hours through the week and is projected to commence Saturday shifts (business hours).

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Experience in delivering evidenced based brief intervention and psychoeducaiton on risk factors assosciated with suicidality.
  • Experience in the provision of mental health assessment and intervention for consumers - preferably in a public mental health setting but this is not essential
  • Ability to provide general and discipline specific mental health assessment and intervention
  • Ability to work as part of a team but also able to work autonomously
  • Passion about contributing positively to the lives of consumers experiencing suicidal ideation precipitated by psychosocial stressors and their families
