Sophia Mundi Steiner School is seeking a passionate and dedicated teacher to join our International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) team as a Spanish Ab Initio teacher from Term 2, 2025. We are looking for a skilled educator with a deep understanding of the IBDP curriculum, particularly in teaching Spanish at the Ab Initio level, and a commitment to fostering a dynamic and supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver engaging and effective Spanish Ab Initio lessons to IBDP students.

Create a dynamic classroom atmosphere that supports language acquisition and intercultural understanding.

Monitor and assess student progress using a variety of evidence-based practices.

Provide constructive feedback to support individual growth.

Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines to enhance teaching practices and learning outcomes.

Uphold the values of Sophia Mundi and contribute to the holistic development of students.

About you:

You’ll be a committed, creative and resourceful teacher with a joy and enthusiasm for working with children, and the ability to relate to and inspire them. You will be proficient in the Spanish language and have a deep understanding of Spanish culture. You’ll have an interest in Steiner Waldorf education and the ability to develop and deliver a Spanish language program based on the principles and methods of the Steiner Waldorf curriculum. We have a team of experienced qualified Steiner teachers who can support you with this, as well as a supportive professional development program of peer mentoring and external training and development opportunities. You are also:

Dynamic, motivated, and able to engage students across different learning levels.

Can work independently and thrives in a collaborative team environment.

Possess strong pedagogical knowledge and assessment expertise.

Enthusiastic about language and culture and brings creativity to the classroom.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

Teaching qualification and experience teaching Spanish, particularly at the IBDP Ab Initio level.

A sound understanding of the IBDP framework.

Passion for languages and culture.

Ability to inspire students and cultivate a love for learning.

Strong communication and organisational skills.

Deep understanding of the IB curriculum and its pedagogical approach.

Experience teaching Years 10–12, ideally including Spanish B and/or VCE Spanish.
