An exciting opportunity exists for a qualified and experienced early childhood professional to take on the role of Child Support Worker for St George Supported Playgroup which is a Department of Communities and Justice initiative.
About the Role
Supported Playgroups provide a soft entry point for families with children 0-5 years. Early childhood educators provide children and families a play-based experiences that promote early learning potential. We provide support for parents and carers in their parenting role to enhance family functioning and assist families to establish supportive social connections.
This is a part time position, working 15 hours per week, Tuesday, Thursday, and Fridays (5 hours per day). The role is based in Rockdale and working within the St George region of Sydney. The You will be required to travel to different locations within the St George area to co facilitate the supported playgroups.
Your main role within the supported playgroup setting is to work with parents/carers and children aged 0-6. Your role is to support families increase the use of positive parenting, support early literacy, model play based interactions and support families with simple parenting advice. Programming age-appropriate play is required at all sites. You will co facilitate up to three playgroups a week in partnership with the Family Support Worker.
About YOU!
The successful candidate must possess a Certificate or Diploma in Children’s Services.
- Experience working with the CALD Community,
- Experience within Children’s Services,
- A current First Aid Certificate, and Driver’s License.
- You will have good communication skills and be willing to assist with planning and implementing of programs for children. You will need to hold a MY GOV account. Or willing to apply for one.
We are looking for an enthusiastic team player with the ability to demonstrate initiative and flexibility. Computer skills are essential in an early intervention service
