Join a dedicated team providing essential, person-centred support for clients with highly complex needs in our Supported Independent Living (SIL) program.
At Sydney Health & Care Services (SHCS), we are committed to providing high-quality support that fosters independence, dignity, and a meaningful quality of life. We are currently recruiting experienced SIL Workers to support clients with highly complex disabilities, intellectual impairments, and behavioural challenges.
Due to the clients' support requirements, this role is open to female applicants only.
About the Role:
- In this role, you will be supporting clients with DiGeorge Syndrome, Glass Syndrome (SATB2-associated syndrome), intellectual disability, epilepsy, autism-like traits, and complex behavioural needs. Your role will be essential in:
- Providing emotional and behavioural support, managing verbal and physical aggression, impulsivity, and distress responses.
- Assisting with communication—both verbal and non-verbal—helping clients express their needs and engage socially.
- Implementing positive behaviour support strategies, focusing on de-escalation, redirection, and structured routines.
- Supporting daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, medication administration, and mobility assistance.
- Ensuring safety by preventing absconding incidents and creating a structured, predictable environment.
- Engaging in skill development, including problem-solving, emotional regulation, and independent living skills.
- Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, including therapists, behavioural specialists, and medical professionals.
Who We’re Looking For:
This role requires highly skilled, resilient, and compassionate professionals with experience in complex behaviours, intellectual disabilities, and trauma-informed support. The ideal candidate will have:
🔹Minimum 2 years’ experience in SIL, disability, mental health, or behavioural support.
🔹Cert III, Cert IV, or Diploma in Disability, Mental Health, or Community Services.
🔹Experience with high-intensity behavioural support, de-escalation strategies, and restrictive practice compliance.
🔹Ability to manage verbal and physical aggression in a calm, professional manner.
🔹Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to unpredictable situations.
🔹Understanding of autism, intellectual disabilities, and dual diagnoses.
🔹NDIS Worker Screening Check, First Aid & CPR, and a current driver’s licence.
