The Opportunity

Excellent opportunity to join a leading Melbourne corporate. The business is large & complex with multiple divisions, which means genuine opportunities to carve out a career. The Finance Analyst sits within the large Financial Control team and takes on broad responsibilities across financial analysis and modelling, financial accounting, and elements of statutory reporting.

The business needs to account for complex derivatives, so a key part of the role will be the analysis and modelling for this area. If you have developed strong data manipulation skills & modelling skills and perhaps have completed digital accelerator or PowerBI courses while in Big4, this is a great role for you.

The Challenge

Reporting to Finance Manager, some of your responsibilities will include:

• Reviewing and analysing profit and loss and balance sheet positions prior to the monthly close
• Undertaking analysis of complex data sets and derivatives topics; using data from multiple sources
• Financial accounting such as coordinating the month-end close
• Working with the Financial Accounting team to prepare relevant disclosures for the annual and half year financial statements
• Developing models to drive efficiency in derivatives accounting
• Working with external auditors as appropriate

The Expertise

Please consider expressing interest in this position if you possess the following:

• CA/CPA qualification
• Sound technical accounting knowledge, ideally gained within Big4 (Audit, Assurance or CFO Advisory)
• Highly proficient with Excel-based modelling and data manipulation
• Skills in SQL, Python etc very highly regarded. Perhaps you are still working on these skills – that’s ok too!
• Strong communication skills and a team player
