The successful applicant will be responsible for performing light fabrication work, including workshop-based fabrication and maintenance and repair of council infrastructure and airport equipment. You will be expected to follow tasks through from initial fabrication to on-site installation, ensuring accuracy, quality, and compliance at each stage.

Key Responsibilities:

• Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications to determine appropriate materials, methods, sequences, and machine settings.
• Fit and assemble fabricated metal parts and subassemblies to produce machines, equipment, and infrastructure components.
• Check completed components for accuracy, clearance, and fit using precision measuring tools.
• Assembling, installing and maintaining boilers.
• Perform MIG, TIG, and Stick welding, as well as oxy cutting.
• Work with aluminium and stainless-steel materials (experience desirable).
• Undertake both workshop-based fabrication and on-site installation work.

Requirements:

• Only Australian citizens or Permanent Residents should apply
• Trade qualified in Fitting or related discipline.
• Proven experience in light fabrication and mechanical fitting work.
• Strong understanding of engineering drawings and ability to interpret them accurately.
• Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
• Must hold a valid Driver Licence and White Card.
• Basic set of relevant tools required.
• Forklift licence desirable.
• Must be able to pass Police Checks, Drug and Alcohol Testing, and hold a valid ASIC Card (or ability to obtain one).
