About the role

We have partnered with a client that is by far one of the best who is seeking a motivated and experienced Civil Estimator to join their dynamic team in their brand new office in Sydney!!

This role is critical to the success of the business, focusing on tendering civil engineering projects, particularly government projects, which form the core of the company’s operations, and ensuring their effective delivery across New South Wales.

What you'll be doing

• Lead the estimation process for civil construction projects, primarily government jobs, from concept to completion, producing high-quality estimates that align with policies and client requirements.
• Manage the delivery of estimating programs and projects.
• Collaborate with councils as needed to support project delivery.
• Work closely with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to ensure bid submissions are accurate and comprehensive.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies in estimation and tendering.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates and detailed project budgets for a range of civil engineering projects.
• Analyse construction plans, specifications, and other project documents to determine labour, equipment, and material requirements
• Research and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes to secure competitive pricing
• Maintain and continuously improve our estimation processes and tools
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior estimating team members

What we're looking for

• 8+ years of hands-on experience as a Senior Civil Estimator, working on medium to large-scale infrastructure projects
• Strong understanding of civil engineering construction methods, materials, and cost drivers
• Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and other construction documents
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail
• Proficient in using estimation software and tools, such as estimating databases and takeoff software
• Effective communication and collaboration skills, able to work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders
• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
