About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Metal Fabricator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for interpreting technical drawings, fabricating metal components, and assembling structures using a variety of tools and techniques. You’ll work as part of a team to deliver high-quality, custom metalwork to meet project specifications and deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

• Interpret engineering drawings, plans, and specifications.
• Measure, cut, bend, and shape metal materials using hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment (e.g., guillotines, press brakes, and rollers).
• Perform MIG, TIG, and/or stick welding to assemble fabricated components.
• Fit, align, and assemble metal parts using jigs, fixtures, and measuring instruments.
• Conduct quality checks on finished products to ensure alignment with specifications.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment, following all WHS requirements.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow and project completion.
• Operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and other workshop equipment as required.

Skills & Experience

• Trade qualification in Metal Fabrication, Engineering Fabrication, or similar.
• Proven experience in a fabrication or welding environment.
• Ability to read and interpret detailed fabrication and structural drawings.
• Proficient in MIG and/or TIG welding.
• Competent in using workshop tools and machinery.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
• Forklift and overhead crane licenses (preferred).
• Strong understanding of workplace health and safety practices.

Desirable Attributes

• Experience with stainless steel and aluminium.
• Background in structural steel, mining, or heavy industry fabrication.
• Familiarity with AS/NZS 5131 fabrication standards.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication and problem-solving skills.
