Position Overview:
As a Structural Design Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the design, analysis, and adequacy of the structures we build. You will provide expert advice, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and oversee the structural design aspects of our projects. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is passionate about engineering design and wants to make a tangible impact on high-profile infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide professional advice regarding the design and adequacy of the structures we build, ensuring they meet relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
- Lead the development of structural designs for a variety of infrastructure projects, including transportation, utilities, and industrial systems.
- Collaborate with project managers, architects, and other engineers to integrate structural solutions into broader project plans.
- Conduct structural analysis, simulations, and calculations to ensure designs are both safe and cost-effective.
- Prepare detailed reports, specifications, and technical drawings to support design proposals and project execution.
- Manage project timelines and budgets in collaboration with the project team.
- Perform site visits as required to assess site conditions and provide expert advice on construction methods.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and learning within the team.
Key Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or a related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) or Chartered Engineer (CEng) status (preferred, but not essential).
- Proven experience in structural design, with a focus on infrastructure projects.
- Hands-on experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor or Revit.
- Proficiency in engineering analysis programs such as Space Gass, Idea Statica and Hilti Profis
- In-depth understanding of relevant Australian Standards, building codes, and safety regulations.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically under pressure.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
