The Canteen is operated by P&C of the North Sydney Boys High School to provide various healthy and nutritious foods and drinks for students, and supply high quality cantering services for school events and functions. The North Sydney Boys High School is looking for a Part-Time Casual Kitchen Assistant to join their friendly school canteen team, to support the School Canteen to continuously provide best service to staff and students. As the Kitchen Assistant, you will play a vital role to work with our friendly and supportive team, under the management of school Canteen Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

• Carry out daily tasks assigned by the Canteen Manager.
• Follow all food hygiene and safety regulations.
• Ensure proper food storage and compliance with NSW food safety regulations.
• Assist in preparing and serving fresh and nutritious meals to students and staff.
• Maintain cleanliness in the kitchen, including washing dishes and sanitising work areas.
• Help with basic food preparation, such as chopping vegetables, making sandwiches, and portioning meals.
• Assist with stock management, restocking supplies, and handling deliveries.

Requirements:

• Previous kitchen, canteen, and / or food service experience is preferred but not essential.
• Basic understanding of food hygiene and safety (training will be provided).
• Ability to work efficiently during busy meal periods.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Friendly and professional attitude when interacting with students and staff.
• Physical ability to stand for long hours and perform light lifting.
• Holding a food handler's license, or is willing to obtain it within five working days of the commencement of the supervisional trial work period.
• Must have or be willing to obtain a Working With Children Check (WWCC) as required for NSW schools.
