Pioneer Village, operated by the Eyre Peninsula Old Folks Home Inc, is located in picturesque Port Lincoln with a wonderful, relaxed country lifestyle. We are a community based 74-bed residential aged care facility situated at the southern tip of Eyre Peninsula in Port Lincoln, South Australia. As a primary provider of residential care and dementia services for the aged of the Southern Eyre Peninsula, we provide quality care and services to our clients in a manner that maintains and respects their individuality and dignity.
As a Public Benevolent Institution, all our employees can salary sacrifice up to $15,899 per annum TAX FREE and an entertainment card which is another $2,650 per annum TAX FREE, each FBT year. Shift penalties are paid in addition to base rate.
The Role
We are seeking passionate qualified Chef to deliver quality food to our residents. Our menu is continually updated to enhance the eating and dining experience.
Duties
- Meal production, acknowledging residents’ individual preference and special dietary needs.
- Maintain nutritional food value, appearance, and presentation of meals, ensuring serving sizes appropriate to residents’ needs and preferences.
- Ensure adequate food supplies are available for food preparation and for resident and staff meals.
- Assist in the menu planning for residents, taking into account nutritional, religious and cultural values.
- Maintain a strict level of hygiene both personal and with equipment, utensils, and food.
- Contribute to Compliance with Aged Care Quality Standards, particularly related to food.
- Allocate duties, supervise, and train Apprentice and other kitchen personnel.
- Maintain appropriate records regarding storage and safe handling of food.
Hours
You will work up to 6 days per fortnight (plus occasional additional shifts):
- at least 60hrs per fortnight
- work Split Shifts - 6:00am to 1:30pm & 3:30pm to 6:30pm
- Actual Days will be finalised with successful candidate
- Split shift, weekend, overtime, and other penalties apply.
Skills & Background
- Must be a qualified Chef (preferably worked in aged care)
- Previous aged care work - highly regarded
