About the role

We are seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to join our team where you will play a key role in supporting our financial and reporting functions. This role includes managing daily financial transactions, ensuring timely collection of receivables, managing payables, processing fortnightly payroll, and preparing financial reports. This role also includes compliance-related tasks such as BAS preparation and financial reporting to support decision-making.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of weekly accounts payable and accounts receivable. This includes checking GST, ABN and correct cost centre allocations.
• Preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards
• Prepare all month-end tasks, including all journal preparations, balance sheet reconciliation and bank reconciliations.
• Ensure the delivery of management and financial reports
• Process end-to-end payroll transactions, ensuring compliance with employment contracts, awards, and statutory tax payment and reporting requirements.
• Manage end-to-end credit card reconciliations, including review, and working with credit card holders to ensure correct posting of accounts on Quickbooks.
• Maintaining general ledger accounts
• Lodge monthly PAYG and quarterly BAS returns to ATO
• Supporting the year-end close processes
• Support the transition and optimisation of Total Synergy Project Management and Quickbooks accounting system ensuring seamless integration
• Providing financial analysis and insights to support business decision-making
• Identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency and controls
• Ensuring compliance with relevant accounting policies, procedures, and regulations
• Manage and maintain the Chart of Accounts (COA)

What we're looking for

• Relevant Degree in Finance/ Accounting (CA or CPA preferred however not necessary)
• Strong technical accounting skills and knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards
• Proficient in financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting
• Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret financial data.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• Payroll Experience with strong knowledge of Australian payroll , taxation, and compliance requirements.
• Proficiency in using Quickbooks online.
• Experience in the engineering or construction industry is highly desirable
