Are you an experienced Maintenance Officer ready to make a meaningful impact in the Housing and Homelessness Sector? Access Community Housing Company (ACHC) is seeking a passionate and driven individual to join our team as a Maintenance Officer.

Access Community Housing Company is the largest community housing provider in Cairns, delivering high quality, accessible and inclusive housing solutions. Housing over 1,250 tenants across 650+ homes, Access Community Housing strives to improve the lives of vulnerable people through accessible, affordable and sustainable housing, and to deliver housing with respect, equity and compassion.

As a Maintenance Officer you will be responsible for ensuring our housing complexes are well maintained and presented to a high standard. You must possess excellent time management skills to prioritise your daily workload.

Reporting to the Building and Assets Executive Manager you will work autonomously in the field engaging with our tenants and contractors therefore good communication skills are essential.

You will work together with our Housing Team to ensure properties are well maintained and report any issues identified at the properties.

The successful candidate must possess the following:

• Knowledge and demonstrated experience working in a similar environment.
• Demonstrated knowledge and use of hand tools, equipment and machinery such as pressure washer.
• Ability to use common tools such as hammers, ladders, drills, and wrenches.
• Demonstrated understanding of WHS and Manual Handling processes and procedures together with being a member of the WHS Champion Team.
• Demonstrated experience in working with individuals and families who identify as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander as well as with other culturally diverse communities.
• Demonstrated skills in the operation of relevant computer systems including Microsoft products (Office, Excel, Outlook etc.) and industry specific information management systems.
• Current Queensland open drivers’ licence.
• A current, or ability to obtain, a Blue Card and police clearance check.
• Computer literacy skills.
