Primary Responsibilities:

  • Patient Assessment:
    - Conduct comprehensive oral health assessments for children and adults.
    - Identify and evaluate dental problems and needs. Preventive Care:
    - Provide preventive dental care such as fluoride treatments, dental sealants, and scaling.
    - Develop and implement individualized oral health plans based on assessment results.
  • Patient Education:
    - Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, nutrition, and the importance of regular dental check-ups.
    - Provide guidance on managing dental anxiety.
  • Treatment Procedures:
    - Perform restorative work such as fillings and simple extractions, if permitted by scope of practice.
    - Administer local anesthesia and provide pain management techniques as required.
  • Record Keeping:
    - Maintain accurate patient records and documentation of assessments, treatments, and patient interactions.
  • Collaboration:
    - Work in collaboration with dentists, dental hygienists, and other health professionals to provide comprehensive care.
    - Refer patients to dental specialists when necessary.
  • Community Engagement:
    - Participate in community outreach programs and health education initiatives to promote oral health awareness.
    - Conduct screenings and health education sessions in schools and community centers.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor in oral health therapy or related field from an accredited university.
  • License/Certification: A valid license to practice as an Oral Health Therapist, in accordance with state regulations.
  • Radiography license
  • Working with children check

Skills:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Proficient in using dental software and tools.
