BC Cartage is the mill mud contractor for the Invicta Mill. Our workshop operates year-round, and our mechanical staff ensures that our fleet is maintained to a high standard. During the sugarcane crushing season (June-December), our workshop team makes sure all preventative maintenance/break downs are conducted to keep our fleet operating 24/7. During the off season, our mechanical staff focus on maintenance and repairs to make sure we have the best start to the next crushing season. BC Cartage is currently recruiting for a permanent, full time Diesel Motor Mechanic to join our family business.

This will include:

• Perform servicing repairs and preventative maintenance on heavy diesel vehicles and equipment.
• Diagnose issues and test parts using advanced diagnostic technology.
• Maintain accurate records of all repairs and maintenance tasks.
• Provide expert advice in vehicle diagnosis and repairs.
• Being on call as per roster, during the season to tend to break downs, if needed.
• Supervising and training a third-year apprentice.
• Coordinating with suppliers for spare parts.
• Form professional relationships with our vendors.

The successful applicant must:

• Have relevant trade qualification or at least 3 years of relevant experience to substitute for the formal qualification.
• Experience working with Heavy vehicles, UD trucks would be preferred.
• Strong diagnostic skills with diesel engines, transmissions & drivelines.
• Experience with hydraulic systems and electrical repairs, is highly regarded.
• Have a valid Class C manual license. HC license would be an advantage.
• Be of good health and be able to return a negative random blood and alcohol test.
• Have a strong focus on safety and attention to detail.
• Have a good work ethic.
• Be able to work in a team environment whilst having strong leadership skills to coordinate and supervise work.
