We design, manufacture, sell and hire purpose-built specialist truck for both the private and public sectors (including stemming and water trucks used in mine blasting, and road maintenance trucks). About the role

This is a new position for Heavy Commercial Vehicle Diesel Mechanic at Ausroad; you have the opportunity to set-up our new workshop for the maintenance and repair of a fleet of heavy commercial vehicles. This is a full-time role based in Archerfield, QLD.

What you'll be doing (but not limited to)

  • Diagnosing and repairing issues with diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical systems and other components of heavy commercial vehicles including body service on our fleet
  • Diagnosing and repairing issues with Hydraulically driven bodies
  • Carrying out scheduled servicing and maintenance tasks to ensure the fleet is well-maintained and roadworthy
  • Documenting all repairs and maintenance work in accordance with company policies
  • Liaising with the operations team to ensure vehicles are serviced and repaired in a timely manner
  • Maintaining a clean and organised work environment
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of maintenance processes and procedures
  • Assist our Road Maintenance team with maintenance and repairs
  • Ability to travel for warranty repairs and field service
  • Ability to travel to our Moranbah workshop from time to time to assist with deadlines
  • Regular communication with our National Fleet & Workshop Manager

What we're looking for

  • Formal qualifications in automotive mechanics, with a focus on heavy commercial vehicles
  • Substantial experience (3+ years) as a mechanic working on diesel engines and heavy commercial vehicles
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills to quickly identify and resolve complex issues
  • Good communication skills to liaise with the operations team and document work accurately
  • A commitment to safety and quality workmanship
  • A positive, collaborative attitude and the ability to work well in a team
  • Admin support from our Service Manager
  • HR Drivers Licence
  • Good electrical fault diagnostic ability.
  • Experience with Volvo & Isuzu trucks an advantage
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
