About the role:
Are you ready to embark on an exciting journey in the world of wool? We are currently seeking enthusiastic individuals with a keen eye for details to join our team of skin classers. No prior experience is necessary as we provide comprehensive training to successful candidates. As a Skin Classer, you will not only contribute to our reputation for excellence but also play a vital role in ensuring our wool/skins meets the highest quality standards, leaving our customers satisfied.
Your role will include:
- Class, grade and sort wool/skin based on quality, length and other specified criteria.
- Inspect incoming wool/skin for any contaminants, foreign matter or defects.
- Work closely with experienced classers to utilise appropriate tools and equipment to assess and determine the quality of wool/skin.
- Categorise wool/skin into different grades or classes, ensuring accurate labelling and documentation.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow and meet deadlines.
- Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organised work environment.
- Assist with general labouring tasks as needed.
- Basic knife work.
What we are looking for:
- No previous experience in skin classing required; comprehensive training will be provided.
- Passion for the livestock industry and eagerness to learn.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Good physical stamina and ability to work in fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication skills to work within a team.
- Ability to follow instructions and work both independently and within a team.
- Forklift licence is desirable but not essential.
