About the role

This is a permanent opportunity, starting with a three-year customised graduate development program. You will work alongside seasoned professionals and gain exposure across our corporate offices, bauxite mines and alumina refineries based in the Peel and Upper Southwest regions. What you’ll be doing

As a Graduate Chemist at Alcoa, you to learn, grow, and develop hands-on experience and expertise in:

Learn the intricacies of the Bayer process, one of the industry’s most complicated chemical processes.

Be mentored by industry experts as you have access to our global technical centre of excellence based on site.

Develop and implement chemical methods and instrumental analytical techniques.

Take an active role in laboratory safety management.

Work collaboratively on laboratory and refinery based investigative and improvement projects.

Utilise your understanding of chemical processes to identify process improvement opportunities.

Development and mentoring

Throughout the program, you will be provided with:

About you

If you are on the path to graduate by the end of 2025 or have recently completed tertiary qualifications in Chemistry or a related discipline, we want to hear from you!

About the Location

Alcoa Australia is currently located in Booragoon, WA, but will be relocating to the western end of St Georges Terrace in Perth CBD in Q3 2025. The Booragoon office is situated on Whadjuk Noongar land, 16 kilometres away from Perth's CBD. The office is situated next to Garden City and hosts employees from across several business units, including Commercial, Finance, Sustainability, Communications, Human Resources and the Global Refinery of the Future team.
