Join the Fair Work Ombudsman (FWO) as a FWO Officer and play a crucial role in promoting harmonious and productive workplaces in Australia. We are looking for passionate dispute assistance professionals to join our Dispute Assistance team and make a real difference.
Full time, part-time and working from home options are available. Offers may be based on operational requirements and/or workstation availability.

Our vision in Dispute Assistance is to lead the way as trusted dispute assistance experts working collaboratively and innovatively to manage the demand for FWOs assistance with workplace disputes.
In response to requests for assistance involving a workplace dispute, the Dispute Assistance team seeks to understand the needs of the individuals and tailor an efficient end-to-end service.

We are looking for people who value:
- Interacting with individuals to understand their needs and tailoring a unique service to match,
- Demonstrating and developing best practice dispute assistance techniques, maintaining expertise and upholding the highest standards,
- Working as part of a national team who support, innovate, and work together to achieve team goals.
Someone with experience in roles where they have demonstrated:
- Triage, customer service, or Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) techniques,
- Advanced communication skills and the ability to interact with a diverse range of people,
- Strong problem-solving skills, an inquisitive mindset and the ability to manage workloads autonomously,
- Working effectively in a team environment.
What does a FWO Officer do?
In your role, you will:
- Provide information, education, and advice to support people involved in workplace disputes,
- Use expert problem solving and resolution skills to empower people make informed decisions,
- Encourage voluntary compliance and guide parties to identify the most appropriate pathway for their workplace dispute,
- Work autonomously to deliver a high standard of service and support others,
- Maintain an in-depth knowledge of pathways to connect parties to these where appropriate,
- Apply desktop and phone-based skills to identify, collect, and triage relevant strategic information that informs decision making in accordance with policy and guidelines,
- Model high standards and share expertise through self-reflection, seeking and applying feedback, and actively engaging in support, development and training of others.

Eligibility
- To be eligible for employment with the OFWO you must be an Australian citizen.
- The successful candidate must hold a current Australian Government Security Clearance (AGSVA) or be willing to undergo and obtain a Baseline security clearance.
A range of other conditions may be required depending on the role you are applying for.
