About the role

This role is responsible delivering outreach family services supports to Aboriginal families in the East Metro area.

The Case Manager’s role is to create a culturally connected and nurturing environment for families, ensuring Aboriginal culture is integrated into the program. They provide timely and effective family support services through practical outreach services through conducting home visits on a weekly or fortnightly basis to strengthen parenting skills and respond to concerns present.

Additionally, they identify cultural needs and offer information about community activities, facilitating family reconnection, when necessary, through referrals to relevant services.

About You

  • Commitment to, the values that underpin VACCA’ vision and purpose and the capacity to take a leadership role in championing these internally and externally
  • Demonstrated experience in working and engaging with Aboriginal families and children.
  • Good knowledge of the Family Violence and Child Protection sectors
  • Qualifications in relevant diploma, degree, or equivalent such as Social Work
  • A minimum of 2 years work experience in relevant industry
  • Ability to effectively engage and support families on agreed goals and tasks in a timely manner using strengths-based, culturally appropriate and trauma informed approaches.
  • Demonstrated ability to complete comprehensive assessments to determine needs for families and able to formulate interventions to respond to the needs.
  • Skill to identify goals and create a plan to respond to these in a timely manner, including experience to respond crisis situations effectively.
  • Requirements: Current COVID-19 vaccination (including booster dose, as applicable), a Working with Children’s Check for a paid employee (or willingness to obtain) and a Victorian Driver Licence.
