About the Position
The Molly Wardaguga Institute (MWI) for First Nations Birthing Rights honors the work of the late Molly Wardaguga, Burarra Elder, and is leading research to redesign health and support services across pre-term, child, maternal and early-years health services for First Nations communities with the aim providing ‘the best start in life’.

As a Data Insight Analyst, you will work with the data team to support data and knowledge management, reporting for professional and research projects, and continuous quality improvement activities. You will be responsible for providing support to the internal data development team for data visualisation functions for research projects that visually presents operational data to support operational and strategic decision making. This includes engagement with data development tasks, as well as contributing to the development and enhancement of data reports and dashboards internally and externally.

About You
To be successful, you will require:

Educational Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or above in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, Statistics, or a related field.

Professional Experience:

  • At least three (3) years of experience in data analysis, business intelligence, or a related field, with a focus on extracting insights and creating data visualizations.
  • Demonstrated experience in Power BI dashboard development, including creating interactive reports and optimizing dashboards for user engagement.
  • Experience working with data warehouses, including assessing available data, identifying gaps, and formulating requirements to support business insights.
  • Experience of ML and AI modelling for healthcare projects

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in SQL for querying and analyzing data, with a solid understanding of data relationships and structures within data warehouses.
  • Hands-on experience with statistical tools such as R and/or Stata for performing analyses and generating insights. Familiarity with ETL processes, with the ability to contribute to development and testing efforts to support insight generation.
  • Hands-on experience with python for performing statistical analysis and interacitve visualisation.

Analytical and Problem-Solving Abilities:

  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex datasets, identify trends, and deliver actionable insights to stakeholders.
  • Ability to validate data for accuracy and integrity and to troubleshoot anomalies effectively

Communication and Collaboration:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical findings into actionable recommendations for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including data engineers, business stakeholders, and external partners.

Understanding of Business Context:

  • Proven ability to understand business needs and translate them into data requirements and visualizations that drive decision-making.

Remuneration
Appointment to this role will be at Professional Level 7. The base salary will be in the range of $93,475 to $102,606 per annum. The total remuneration package will be in the range of $109,365 to $120,049 per annum, including 17% superannuation.
