Mackay Regional Council has a Senior Environmental Officer position in the Water Treatment team available on permanent full-time basis.

About this opportunity:

The Senior Environmental Officer works to improve environmental and public health outcomes by identifying environmental and public health risks and providing scientific and technical support for a wide range of projects.

They contribute to the implementation of environmental and public health management and protection strategies and promote compliance with environmental and public health legislation and policies.

To reduce environmental and public health risk by providing technical capacity to initiate, manage, or contribute to environmental and public health projects and meet requirements of environmental and public health legislation.

Essential Qualifications, Experience & Skills:

  • Degree (preferred); OR
  • Associate Diploma; OR
  • Lesser formal qualifications combined with substantial relevant experience
  • Qualifications in Science, Environmental Science, or related field:
  • QLD "C" Class Drivers Licence or interstate equivalent.
  • Detailed knowledge of technical and environmental requirements for Water and Waste related activities and ability to apply them in everyday work practices
  • Ability to exercise a high degree of initiative, judgment, confidentiality, tact, and discretion in the performance of the position and the ability to work independently.
