About us:

The High Dependency Unit (HDU) at Gladstone Hospital is a four-bed facility operating at 80% occupancy, providing acute nursing care to stabilize patients before they transfer to general wards or tertiary facilities. Classified as Level 3 under the Clinical Services Capability Framework (CSCF), the unit can care for intubated patients for up to 24 hours. Clinical governance is primarily overseen by the anaesthetic team, with contributions from surgical and medical teams and allied health support.

The HDU is responsible for cardiac and hemodynamic monitoring, inotropic support, and invasive/non-invasive ventilation. Additionally, the Clinical Nurse manages an outpatient clinic service, which includes cardiac stress tests, spirometry, and a pacemaker clinic.

About the role:

The Clinical Nurse provides an early leadership role for the nursing career pathway within CQHHS and is responsible for a specific patient cohort and will function effectively in more complex situations while providing support and direction to the Registered Nurse. The Clinical Nurse follows quality standards, occupational health and safety policies and procedures to deliver a high-quality, safe practice and workplace.

About you:

• Registered Nursing Qualification
• Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
• A relevant post-graduate qualification in critical care is well regarded
• Ventilation competency is advantageous, where the applicant does not currently hold this qualification, a commitment to completion within an agreed timeframe is expected and will form part of the performance and development plan.

What we offer:

Total remuneration value of up to $110,726 p.a. is comprised of:

• An hourly rate between $54.44 - $58.30 p.h.
• 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
