South Coast Correctional Centre

Salary: $101,261 - $ 113,516 pa plus superannuation and leave loading

Position Type: Ongoing, Full Time

Location: South Coast Correctional Centre

Your role

An exciting opportunity for an Aboriginal Identified Teacher to join the team at the South Coast Correctional Centre to assist with planning and developing courses which meet the requirements of accredited programs and training packages to achieve the highest level of compliance in accordance with CSNSW policies and procedures. This role is crucial in the contribution to reduce inmate reoffending and increased community safety.

What you'll do

As part of this role, you will be required to conduct classes and sessions with the offenders to meet the educational needs under the principals of adult learning. You will also participate in evaluating processes including validation and modifying assessments as well as administrative duties including recording offender attendance, progress and achievements.

This opportunity is for those who are truly passionate about making an impact upon the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

What we're looking for

  • Proof of Aboriginality
  • A qualification in Education as outlined in the Crown Employees (Education Employees Department of Justice - Corrective Services NSW) Award and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or equivalent.
  • The qualification will include subjects in the learning area of literacy and numeracy.
  • Current Driver Licence and preparedness to drive as part of the role

  • is accepted as a such by the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community.
