About the Role

As a Recovery Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing practical and emotional support to individuals on their journey of personal recovery. Working within a person-centered framework, you will collaborate with a team to create an environment conducive to self-determination, choice, and holistic wellbeing. Your duties will encompass various aspects of support, including facilitating recovery plans, fostering emotional wellbeing, and promoting life skills development.

Supporting Individuals

  • Facilitate the implementation and maintenance of personalised recovery plans.
  • Provide emotional support and guidance to individuals, fostering emotional wellbeing.
  • Adopt a holistic approach to support, addressing physical health and mental distress.
  • Include family members, carers, and significant individuals in the recovery process as directed.
  • Address critical incidents and crises according to organisational policies and procedures.

Recovery Plan Support

  • Work within a person-centered framework, promoting self-determination and choice.
  • Build rapport with service users to foster trust and collaboration.
  • Assist service users in developing essential life skills to enhance their independence.

Service Operations

  • Ensure timely completion of all necessary documentation.
  • Actively participate in internal meetings, supervision sessions, and training activities.
  • Contribute to the development of policies, best practices, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain facilities and property in compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

About You

To be considered for this role, you will need to have;

Qualifications and Certificates

  • Certificate IV TAFE (or equivalent) in a human services-related field or relevant demonstrated experience.
  • Current National Police Clearance Certificate (no older than six months)
  • A valid First Aid and CPR Certificate (HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid, HLTAID010 Provide Basic Emergency Life Support, HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)
  • A current working with Children Check
  • A valid Driver’s licence

Skills and Experience

  • Understanding of contemporary mental health frameworks.
  • Previous experience in a human service-related field, preferably in mental health support.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with diverse stakeholders and develop written materials.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and manage tasks effectively.

Desirable

  • Lived experience of mental health recovery or as family members of people with a lived experience of recovery is desirable
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Lived experience of mental health recovery or as a family member of someone in recovery.
  • Awareness of relevant government departments and community-based support agencies.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and standards such as LARU and MH Act.

  • Positive attitude towards people experiencing mental distress.
  • The ability to live RW values in all workplace tasks and interactions.
  • Pro-active individual who is enthusiastic and committed to upholding RW values and principles

We have one part-time role at Bunbury SUSD offering 51.5 hours over 4 weeks. We also have several casual positions available across the southwest.
