The Opportunity:
This is an opportunity for an enthusiastic Lifting & Rigging Technician (Mechanical Engineering Technician) to join the Nobles team. We have secured several large projects across Australia and are looking for individuals who are seeking a new challenge.
What you will be required to do:
In this role you will work across several areas of our operations to provide assistance and develop your skills in our unique industry. Working 38 hours per week Monday to Friday generally with regional work requirements from time to time.

Your responsibilities in this role include:
- In house and/or on-site visual inspection, repair and testing of customers lifting, rigging & working at heights equipment.
- Perform scope work onsite to assist engineers to design lifting equipment.
- Scoping of engineering design while in the field for various lifting applications. This involves reporting and drawing of the design for engineering assessment.
- Select and use plant and equipment from a Bill of Materials (BOM) suitable to the item being manufactured.
- Manufacture wire rope and chain assemblies using aluminium ferrules and steel parts and then load test them using hydraulic test bed.
- Analyse the test data and provide completed test report with photos and drawings of the load test.
- Proactively identify assets for replacement or repair in accordance with the relevant Australian Standards.
- Organise and supervise the required repairs and testing once order approved.
- Carry out required repairs once approved.
- Travel to regional and interstate locations for extended periods of time.
- Estimate the repair costs and quantities required for quoting.
- Perform load tests onsite as required using mobile load measuring equipment and suitable rigging equipment.
- Collecting lifting equipment defect data in accordance with Australian Standards and entering this data into Nobles’ Tech Inspect Data Management System for varying periodic maintenance schedules.
- Accurate data entry of inspection reports on the Nobles inhouse inspection reporting program
- Ensure all completed inspections are in line with related Australian Standards & local regulations.
- Ensure all completed repairs are in line with related Australian Standards & local regulations.
- Ensure all completed manufactured items are in line with related Australian Standards & local regulations.
- Store person duties including goods inwards and outwards and general maintenance and housekeeping of workshop.
Qualification required
An AQF Associate degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma in Engineering or another related field or a comparable formal qualification and minimum one year full-time work experience in the last 5 years.
At least three years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications listed above.
