The Role

Security and Estate Group is looking to fill a range of positions in the following areas:

Project Officers (Capital Facilities and Infrastructure Branch)

These roles provide project delivery and contract management for large national programs and major infrastructure by planning, developing and delivering projects that provide new and refurbished facilities and infrastructure.

This is achieved through actively engaging stakeholders including industry and project sponsors; drafting project plans and assisting to procure and manage contractors using the Defence Infrastructure Panel.

These positions require an NV1 Security Clearance and are located in Canberra - ACT.

Quality Assurance Contract Officer (Capital Facilities and Infrastructure Branch)

This position has an active role in driving and administering the compliance framework for the Defence Infrastructure Panels, the Defence Suite of Contracts and the products and resources that support procurement and contracting activities.

The role does not seek knowledge of these products rather it seeks an individual who understand quality assurance, continuous improvement and lesson learnt outcomes.

This position requires an NV1 Security Clearance and is located in Canberra - ACT.

Estate Property Officer (Estate Commercial Planning Branch)

These roles in Estate property disposal work is accountable under broad direction to perform and achieve complex planning, development, approval and delivery activities and tasks for estate disposal. It is also responsible for ensuring that the estate disposal are successfully delivered within the required quality, schedule, and cost/budget.

The incumbent will have an in-depth knowledge of or be able to absorb an in-depth knowledge of, and compliance with, property management functions, legislative frameworks, Government decision-making framework and Defence’s strategic objectives/plans. They will also exercise sound decision-making and judgement to provide expert policy advice.

These positions require a Baseline Security Clearance and are located in Canberra - ACT.

Estate Property Officer (Property Management Branch)

These roles in the Directorate of Estate Licensing and Leasing deliver a range of property related outcomes in accordance with relevant legislation, policy and procedures.

Duties include: stakeholder liaison, prepare briefs, reports and correspondence, understand and define the process of real property management in the Defence environment, review policy and draft procedures associated with Defence property, build and sustain effective relationships, interpret and comply with legislative, policy and regulatory frameworks, and recommend solutions to real property issues.

These positions require an NV 1 Security Clearance and can be located in Canberra - ACT, Darwin - NT, Brisbane - QLD, Sydney - NSW, Melbourne - VIC, Adelaide - SA, Perth - WA.

Security Advisor (Directorate of Security Assurance (DoSA))

The DoSA directly supports Defence capabilities and operations through the provision of protective security policy, advice and assurance, and validates security practices and measures to protect Defence people, information and assets.

To be successful in this role you will need to develop an understanding of the security risk environment to contextualise the level of security risks as they relate to specific Defence stakeholders. Ongoing liaison with internal and external stakeholders and local law enforcement agencies will support an appreciation of the changing risk environment. Security Advisors also deliver security risk management and protective security training to Defence and Defence Industry stakeholders.

This position requires an NV1 Security Clearance and is located in Sydney CBD - NSW.

Security Advisor (Defence Industry Security Branch (DISB))

These roles contribute to the Defence Industry Security Program (DISP) by supporting Australian entities to understand and meet their security obligations when engaging in Defence tenders, contracts and projects. Duties include processing membership applications, membership management and complex case management.

These positions require an NV 1 Security Clearance and can be located in RAAF Base Williams - VIC, Campbell Park - ACT, Penrith - NSW, Defence Plaza Sydney - NSW, Brisbane CBD - QLD.

Assurance Officer (DISB)

This role contributes to the DISP by ensuring industry has the right security in place for Defence tenders and contracts and providing assurance to Defence and other government entities when working with DISP members.

Duties include: performing and monitoring assurance and auditing activities, providing advice on quality assurance processes and business improvement activities, developing documents to facilitate quality assurance improvement activities, and understanding and applying quality assurance procedures, practices and frameworks.

This position requires an NV1 Security Clearance and can be located in RAAF Base Williams - VIC or Campbell Park - ACT.

DMS Customer Support Officer

This role directly supports delivery of the DISP Management System (DMS) project. In this role you will respond to requests for support in applying for membership or managing current memberships through the DISP Member Portal.

You will also undertake technical research and analysis, conduct reviews, assessments, investigations and perform procedural, clerical, administrative support work to achieve results. Problem resolution and customer service skills are heavily used in this position to achieve timely resolutions.

This position requires an NV1 Security Clearance and can be located in RAAF Base Williams - VIC or Campbell Park - ACT.

A merit pool will be created and may be used to fill future vacancies.

About our Team

SEG is responsible for providing infrastructure and associated support services to in excess of 90,000 ADF and civilian staff. SEG sustains the Defence Estate and is the consolidated security and service delivery organisation for Defence.

We design and deliver Defence infrastructure and manage the complex Defence Estate – maintaining environmental stewardship of over 3.8 million hectares, the largest landholding in the Commonwealth with 70 major bases, 100 plus training ranges, more than 1000 leased or owned properties, and 30,000 built assets.

The SEG comprises four divisions (Infrastructure, Service Delivery, Security and Estate Transformation) that strengthen the links between security and the Defence Estate, and support Defence’s mission and the integrated, focused force outlined in the 2024 National Defence Strategy.

Our vacancies exist in the following areas:

Infrastructure Division

Infrastructure Division manages the development, maintenance and disposal of the Defence Estate. To manage the Defence estate, Infrastructure Division reviews, develops and constructs facilities and sites, often planning out to thirty years in advance. We also create heritage and environment policy for all Defence properties across Australia. Property acquisitions, leasing, disposal and management of estate related native title, offshore mining and petroleum exploration issues all fall within Infrastructure Division’s portfolio of responsibilities.

Defence Security Division

The Defence Security Division provides adaptable security services to Defence and Defence industry, and provides timely, considered guidance to all Defence employees. The division comprises of four branches (Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA), Defence Industry Security, Security Policy & Services, and Security Threat & Assurance).

Estate Transformation Division

Estate Transformation Division supports Defence wide integration and collaboration to strengthen the resilience of the Defence Estate. We drive process reform and Defence Estate optimisation, while providing a principle-coordinating role for engagement with central agencies on estate management policy, and the implementation of Government direction and strategic intent. We also manage property acquisitions, leasing, disposal and management of estate related native title.

NOTE: Although current SEG vacancies exist within the Infrastructure, Defence Security and Estate Transformation Divisions, this recruitment process may be used to identify other suitable candidates to fill vacancies for similar roles across the Group.

Security Advisor (DoSA)

Ability to develop an understanding of the security risk environment and engage with internal/external stakeholders on physical security requirements while contextualising the level of security risks as they relate to Defence stakeholders.
