The successful candidate will play an integral role in the following:
- Provide intervention to support legal services provided by the specialist domestic and family violence unit.
- Represent the specialist domestic and family violence unit in external forums and liaise with relevant external stakeholders to maintain referral networks.
- Help provide information and training to Legal Aid Queensland staff and external community stakeholders to increase awareness and improve access to services for women and prepare associated resource materials.
- Participate in planning, preparation, implementation and evaluation of projects for legal service delivery to vulnerable women that have experienced domestic and family violence.
You will have:
- You have experience providing crisis counselling, short term assistance and advocacy for clients. You have knowledge of the social issues impacting on women, in particular women experiencing domestic and family violence, disadvantage, or coming from cultural and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
- You can communicate effectively with clients with complex needs in interviews and crisis counselling and can assess client safety.
- You can prepare written material such as reports, briefs, training and other educational materials in a clear, concise and articulate manner.
- You can represent the organisation effectively in public forums. You build and sustain relationships with a network of key people, including internal legal practitioners and external stakeholders, to work toward mutually beneficial outcomes.
- You are also committed to self-development and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of social work theories.
