Position overview
The Bureau of Meteorology is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Business Administration Officer to join the Energy and Resources team in the Business Solutions Group. This role will report to the Business Manager and deliver exceptional service experience to both internal and external customers and stakeholders. As a Administration Officer, you will provide financial and administrative support and will be liaising with a wide range of customers and stakeholders, both internal and external to the Bureau. The occupant of this position must have administrative ability of a very high order.
The responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:
- Complying with all Bureau work, health and safety policies and procedures, and taking reasonable care for your own health and safety and that of employees, contractors and visitors who may be affected by your conduct.
- Provide administrative expertise and advice and perform activities to ensure they meet appropriate probity, accountability, and compliance requirements.
- Manage the purchase of goods and services, arrange payment of accounts and seeking approval in line with delegations and legislation to ensure smooth procure to pay process.
- Assist the business with queries as required including managing customer expectations and identifying customer needs and ability to communicate effectively with customers and stakeholders.
- Demonstrated organisational skills and the ability to prioritise work to meet strict deadlines and respond to changing requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to operate a range of desktop computing applications including spread sheets, word processors and data bases.
- Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of purchase orders from creation, amendments and closure.
- Participate in continuous improvement opportunities within the Procure-to-Pay function.
- Other tasks as directed depending on the business requirements.
- Be aware of, and apply as necessary, the principles and practices of the various elements of the Bureau's Social Justice Strategy.
